IntrusionIQ™ Alarm and Camera Integrator FAQs

Everything you need to know specifically for licensed alarm adn video integrators, dealers, and security contractors evaluating solutions to reduce false alarms while upgrading existing intrusion systems. Can’t find an answer? Get in touch →

Does IntrusionIQ™ expose integrators to additional privacy or liability risk?

No. IntrusionIQ is intentionally designed to avoid video storage, playback, or transmission outside the premises. Only event data is reported to the alarm panel and central station. This substantially reduces:

Regulatory scrutiny

Privacy exposure

Data retention obligations

Civil liability risk

What problem does IntrusionIQ™ solve for alarm integrators?

IntrusionIQ™ is designed to eliminate nuisance and false alarms caused by traditional PIR, dual-tech motions, and environmental factors. By using AI video analytics at the edge—specifically human detection and optional line-crossing—IntrusionIQ™ delivers verified intrusion events as standard alarm zones, dramatically improving signal quality without changing the way panels or central stations operate.

How is IntrusionIQ™ different from video verification systems?

IntrusionIQ™ does not transmit video off-premises and does not require central station operators to review clips. Instead, it converts AI-verified detection events into alarm zones, using solid state technology, preserving privacy while achieving verification-level confidence. This avoids the legal, bandwidth, and operational risks associated with live or recorded video transmission.

Does IntrusionIQ™ require an NVR or VMS?

No. IntrusionIQ™ operates independently of any NVR or VMS. The system requires only:

  • An AI-enabled IP camera (Confirm compatability with IntrusionIQ)
  • The IntrusionIQ™ bridge
  • An existing or to be installed standard intrusion alarm panel of the integrators choice.

This significantly reduces system cost, complexity, and points of failure(no relays)

Double Duty? Sure, IntrusionIQ can work along side the needs for Video Storage and playback. Accomplished by the integergrator with their current devices: SD Card in camera, NVR, or Cloud Storage devices. The camera assigned to IntrusionIQ for alarm panel signalling can also double duty for recording as needed.

What alarm panels are supported?

IntrusionIQ™ is panel-agnostic and integrates with virtually all major intrusion platforms, including:

  • Honeywell / Resideo (Vista, V-Plex)
  • DSC
  • Bosch
  • Napco
  • DMP
  • Other panels supporting zone expanders or keypad/polling buses

Integration occurs at the panel level, using methods integrators already understand.

How many cameras and zones can one IntrusionIQ™ device support?

A single IntrusionIQ™ bridge can process up to 16 cameras simultaneously, with each camera mapped to an independent alarm zone. This allows:

  • One zone per camera
  • Or multiple analytic conditions per camera (e.g., Human Detection + Line Crossing)

All zones report as conventional alarm inputs to the panel without the use of relays. Multiple IntrusionIQ™ bridges can be used if needed to support additional cameras and zones.

How does IntrusionIQ™ reduce false alarms compared to motion detectors?

Traditional motions detect movement. IntrusionIQ detects intentional human presence. AI analytics ignore:

  • Animals
  • Shadows
  • Headlights
  • Weather
  • Insects
  • HVAC movement
  • Reflections

Optional dual-condition logic (human + line crossing) further reduces false activations in high-risk environments. Triple condition logic can also be deployed, whereby conventional alarm devices, (i.e. glass breaks and door or window contacts) can be required to trip in addition to the analytic zones, further tightening data verficiation standards, aiming to get to AVS-01 level 3.

Is IntrusionIQ compliant with modern false alarm reduction standards?

Yes. IntrusionIQ aligns with the principles of AVS-01 Alarm Scoring by delivering high-confidence, data-verified intrusion events without requiring video transmission. This positions integrators favorably with municipalities, AHJs, and central stations focused on verified response models.

Does IntrusionIQ™ expose integrators to additional privacy or liability risk?

Highly unlikely. IntrusionIQ™ is intentionally designed to avoid video storage, playback, or transmission outside the premises. Only event data is reported to the alarm panel and central station. This substantially reduces:

Regulatory scrutiny, Privacy Exposure, Data retention obligations & civil liability risk. For more information on why IntrusionIQ™, as a data-verified, edge-based alarm architecture, provides a verification model that satisfies AVS-01 objectives without transmitting video off-premises, materially reducing legal concerns regarding privacy exposure for both private and public stakeholders click here.

How is IntrusionIQ™ powered and connected?

IntrusionIQ™ supports:

  • PoE / PoE+ Ethernet power
  • Or 12VDC power from the alarm panel (under 1A)

Camera connections require only standard PoE Ethernet. No additional camera wiring is required. No relays built into camera necessary.

How complex is programming and commissioning?

Programming is intentionally familiar:

  • Camera analytics are configured at the edge via your camera companies web interface.
  • IntrusionIQ maps events to zones
  • Zones are programmed in the alarm panel like any other device

No special central station programming or monitoring retraining is required. Just send them the zone data as normal, with cool new descriptions such as “Person Detected crossing North Perimeter” “Person detected outside vault perimeter”, “Person Loitering in ATM Lobby” “Unknown Person in Backyard” “Unknown Person inside the Stock Room” “Person crossing two trip wires in Pharmacy”

Can IntrusionIQ™ be used for retrofits and upgrades?

Yes. IntrusionIQ™ is ideal for:

  • Motion detector replacement
  • False alarm reduction retrofits
  • High-false-alarm sites
  • Commercial perimeter protection
  • Commercial and Residential upgrades without rewiring

Existing panels, conventional devices (i.e. door and window sensors, panic buttons, PIRs, Dual Tecs, sirens, VSA, wiring, keypads, communications equipment (i.e. Telguard, Alarmnet, Starlink) and monitoring contracts remain intact.

Does IntrusionIQ™ replace motion detectors entirely?

In many environments, yes. IntrusionIQ™ can fully replace interior motions, perimeter beams, and PIRs. In hybrid designs, it can also supplement existing sensors to increase verification confidence and further reduce dispatch rates.

What types of analytics are supported?

Depending on the camera model used, supported analytics include:

  • Human detection
  • Line crossing
  • Loitering
  • Area intrusion
  • Directional movement
  • Time and schedule based conditions (but NOT required) as system arms/disarms simply with keypad.
  • Early Smoke and Flame Detection (not NFPA approved yet, but optional to suppliment an approved fire alarm system with much earlier detection)
  • Behavioral (Fighting, screaming, Gunshot) and more coming.

Only qualified, intentional events are passed to the alarm system.

Is IntrusionIQ™ suitable for residential installations?

Yes. In additional to commercial environments, IntrusionIQ™ is well-suited for high-end residential, estates, and homeowners frustrated by repeated false alarms—particularly in homes with pets, large windows, or outdoor motion exposure.

Is IntrusionIQ™ available for dealer or integrator programs?

Yes. IntrusionIQ™ is offered exclusively through licensed alarm integrators, with options for dealer programs, regional deployment, and private-label partnerships. Due to the needed experience to install POE network cameras, intrusion systems with communications, this is not a DIY device.

Why should an integrator adopt IntrusionIQ™ now?

Because false alarms are the single largest operational and reputational risk in the intrusion industry and Remote Video Verification is simply too costly for customers, too invasive of their privacy, and too legally risky for ANYONE involved in that chain of custody of the video images, especially in the world of AI. IntrusionIQ™ allows integrators to:

Future-proof existing intrusion accounts, Differentiate from competitors, Reduce service calls, Improve customer satisfaction & Align with verified response trends. IntrusionIQ™ can reduces your false alarms significantly. IntrusionIQ can allow you to offer NEW Security methods not previously possible, (i.e. “Stranger entering restricted area” during the day, when normal intrusion systems must be disarmed because they cannot differentiate between a stranger and a valid worker)

Strategic Market Reality

  • Most “AI analytics” sold today are purpose built for Enterprise Systems and priced accordingly. IntrusionIQ changes this and makes the same technology now available for Small and Medium Businesses and Homes.
  • The industry must rapidly shift from video-centric monitoring to event-centric signaling, where the output is an alarm decision, not video review.
  • This shift aligns closely with intrusion systems bridged by IntrusionIQ, not traditional VMS platforms or Central Monitoring Stations.

This is precisely why IntrusionIQ was invented, because (human-verified, edge-based, alarm-panel-native signals) represent a structural market change rather than an incremental feature upgrade.

IntrusionIQ™ End User FAQs

Everything you need to know about IntrusionIQ™ specifically for end users (homeowners and business owners) evaluating IntrusionIQ™ as a replacement for, or upgrade to, a traditional alarm system. Can’t find an answer? Get in touch →

What is IntrusionIQ™?

IntrusionIQ™ is a next-generation intrusion detection system that uses artificial intelligence at the camera level to accurately determine whether a real security threat is present before triggering an alarm. Unlike traditional motion sensors that guess, IntrusionIQ™ analyzes events such as human presence, movement patterns, and defined boundaries to dramatically reduce false alarms.

How is IntrusionIQ™ different from a traditional alarm system?

Traditional alarm systems rely on motion detectors, door contacts, or glass breaks that cannot distinguish between a real threat and everyday activity. This often results in false alarms caused by pets, shadows, HVAC airflow, or routine movement.

IntrusionIQ™ replaces “guess-based” sensors with AI-verified detection, ensuring alarms are triggered only when a genuine intrusion event occurs.

Will IntrusionIQ™ reduce false alarms?

Yes—this is the core purpose of IntrusionIQ™. IntrusionIQ™ can reduce your false alarms by up to 20%.

Do I need cameras recording video all the time?

No.

IntrusionIQ™ does not require continuous video recording, cloud storage, or live video streaming to a monitoring center. The system uses event-based data, not constant video transmission, which improves privacy and reduces bandwidth usage.

Does IntrusionIQ™ transmit live video to a monitoring center?

No. IntrusionIQ™ sends verified alarm data, not live video feeds. This design:

Keeps alarm response fast and reliable and:

Avoids unnecessary exposure of private spaces

Can IntrusionIQ™ work with my existing alarm system?

In most cases, yes. IntrusionIQ™ is designed to integrate with existing professional alarm panels, allowing it to act as an intelligent “sensor layer” rather than requiring a full system replacement. This makes IntrusionIQ™ an ideal upgrade path for homes and businesses already protected by an alarm system.

Do I need to replace my current alarm company?

Not necessarily – IntrusionIQ™ can be installed by professional security integrators and monitored by existing central stations. Many customers keep their current monitoring provider while upgrading the quality and reliability of their alarm signals.

Is IntrusionIQ™ suitable for both homes and businesses?

Yes. IntrusionIQ™ is designed for:

  • Residential homes
  • Retail locations
  • Warehouses
  • Manufacturing facilities
  • Offices
  • Schools and campuses
  • High-value or high-risk properties

The system is scalable and configurable for different environments.

How many areas or zones can IntrusionIQ™ protect?

A single IntrusionIQ™ receiver can support multiple camera-based zones, each mapped to a traditional alarm zone. Each zone can represent:

  • A specific camera
  • A defined area within a camera view
  • A particular type of detection (e.g., human presence, boundary crossing)

This allows precise alarm reporting without adding physical sensors.

What happens during a verified intrusion event?

When a real intrusion is detected:

  1. The AI camera confirms a valid threat
  2. IntrusionIQ™ processes the event locally
  3. A verified alarm signal is sent to the alarm panel
  4. The monitoring center receives a high-confidence alarm
  5. Authorities or responders are dispatched appropriately

This reduces delayed responses caused by alarm verification calls or repeated false alarms.

Is IntrusionIQ™ more secure than cloud-based systems?

Yes. IntrusionIQ™ performs analysis on-site, not in the cloud. This means:

Reduced cybersecurity exposure

No reliance on third-party cloud servers

No continuous internet video uploads

Faster response times

Will IntrusionIQ™ work during internet outages?

IntrusionIQ™ is designed to continue operating locally. Because detection occurs at the edge, loss of internet connectivity does not disable basic intrusion detection or alarm signaling when connected to a local alarm panel.

Is IntrusionIQ™ difficult to use?

No – Once installed and configured by a professional integrator, IntrusionIQ™ operates automatically. There are no daily user actions required, and no complicated interfaces for homeowners or business owners to manage.

Does IntrusionIQ™ protect privacy?

Yes – Privacy is a foundational design principle. IntrusionIQ:

Keeps sensitive visual data on the premises

Does not require video streaming off-site

Uses event data instead of constant surveillance

Allows precise control over what constitutes an alarm
